Hitting a halfcourt shot at an NBA game can be a real thrill — most of the time.

One unlucky fan found out Wednesday night that not every halfcourt heave is created equal when he drilled a 47-footer during a break in the action of the Memphis Grizzlies’ season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers. By draining the shot, our Oxford shirt-wearing friend below was awarded … tater tots for life.

Now, we’re not ones to turn down free food, but considering similar contests have given away free college tuition, cars and mortgage payments, this prize is about as lame as it gets. Even if you reeeeeeeally love tater tots, what use is a prize you can only cash in two bucks at a time?

Oh, well. He seemed happy about it, at least, so good for him.
