Sheldon Richardson Boldly Guarantees Jets Road Win Over Rival Patriots

New York Jets defensive end Sheldon Richardson really likes his team’s chances against the New England Patriots this Sunday.

The Jets are off to a 4-1 start under new head coach Todd Bowles, and they have a chance to take over first place in the AFC East with a victory this weekend. And if you ask Richardson, you might as well pencil in a victory for New York right now.

“This is going to be another win for us,” Richardson told Metro New York. “We’ll let you all write the columns about validating wins and stuff like that. This is going to be another win in the win column if we go out there and execute and do what we’re supposed to do.

“We’re going to be up in the division, that’s how we’re going to look at it. We’re going to be the front-runners, that’s how we look at it.”

Richardson, who was suspended for the first four games of the season, made his debut Sunday in a 34-20 win over the Washington Redskins. He quickly switched his attention to the Patriots after the win, saying the Jets were “licking their chops” to face their rivals.

But he did send a compliment New England’s way Thursday for its ability to replace injured players, especially on the offensive line.

“We stack up well, but they always find a way when they’re not stacked up well to find a way to win anyway,” Richardson said. “Them losing a left tackle, it doesn’t end up being another void because they pull out another win.”

Jets-Patriots week is starting to heat up.
