Jon Lester and John Lackey know each other quite well from their days with the Boston Red Sox. However, their meeting Friday night was not a friendly reunion.

The two starting pitchers were all businessĀ as they faced off in Game 1 of the National League Division Series between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.

Both pitchers looked impressive, but Lackey and the Cardinals ultimately came away with the 4-0 win.

LackeyĀ allowed two hits and zero runs while striking out five overĀ 7 1/3 innings. Lester surrendered three earned runs, but he kept the game close. He allowed five hits while striking out nine in 7 1/3 innings.

The Cardinals had a slim 1-0 lead heading into the eighth, but aĀ pair of home runs by Thomas Pham and Stephen Piscotty helped secureĀ the victory.
