Daniel Murphy was one of the main reasons why the New York Mets were playing at Citi Field on Saturday in Game 4 of the World Series.

And now he is one of the main reasons why they trail three-games-to-one in the Fall Classic.

Murphy made a costly error in the top of the eighth inning, which opened the door for three Kansas City runs. The Royals never looked back from there, taking Game 4 of the series 5-3.

New York held a 3-2 lead heading into the eighth thanks to a pair of home runs by rookie Michael Conforto. But it wasn’t enough in the end. Ben Zobrist scored the tying run on Murphy’s error, and then the Royals took the lead for good on Mike Moustakas’ RBI single.
