Just when we thought we could start moving on from Deflategate, the NFL went ahead and ruined our Monday.

The NFL announced Monday that it had filed a briefing in its appeal of U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman’s ruling that nullified the league’sĀ four-game suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

NFL lawyers asked the court “to conclude that a lower-court judge was mistaken” in nullifying Brady’s suspension, according to NFL.com, calling his findings “unfathomable.”

NFL.com also reports that the hearings are not scheduled until February, so even if the NFL’s appeal works, it wouldn’tĀ affect Brady until next season.

Of course, this brief is no surprise, as reports have claimed that the NFL has been planning an appeal of Berman’s decision since the day it was levied.
