FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots were without one of their top cornerbacks Thursday at practice.

Tarell Brown, who was listed on the injury report with a foot ailment last week, was the lone player missing from practice. Brown was limited all week with the foot injury and played against the Dallas Cowboys after being listed as probable. His 2014 season ended early with the Oakland Raiders after he broke his foot in Week 15.

New cornerback Rashaan Melvin, who was claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens, was on the field, wearing No. 24.

Linebacker Dont’a Hightower, who injured his ribs in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys, participated in practice for the second consecutive day.
