The New England Patriots added offensive tackle depth by signing a local product.

The Patriots signed Brennan Williams to their practice squad Tuesday, a source told NESN.com. Williams was spotted walking through the Patriots’ locker room during media availability.

Williams, an Easton, Mass., native, was a third-round draft pick by the Houston Texans out of the University of North Carolina in 2013. Williams dealt with injuries during his time with the Texans and was released in July 2014 after failing his physical. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars over the offseason but was released at the end of the summer with an injury settlement because of a bone bruise in his leg.

Williams joins offensive linemen Chris Barker and Blaine Clausell on the Patriots’ practice squad. The Patriots signed offensive tackle Cameron Fleming to their 53-man roster off their practice squad Saturday after starting left tackle Nate Solder was placed on injured reserve.

Marcus Cannon, who filled in for Solder to start Sunday’s Week 6 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, left the game in the first quarter with a toe injury and didn’t return. The injury reportedly is minor.

Williams, also a big WWE fan, primarily played right tackle during his career at UNC. He played high school football at Catholic Memorial. His father, Brent Williams, played for the Patriots from 1986 to 1993.
