Rob Gronkowski: We’ll Take Penalty For Dolphin’s #CrushBrady Twitter Avatar

FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots fans caught wind of Chris McCain’s controversial Twitter avatar this week and let the Miami Dolphins linebacker hear about it.

McCain, who missed practice Monday because of the birth of his child — not because of anything said or done on social media — clarified on Twitter that he changed his avatar to the photo of him putting the cranium crush on Patriots quarterback Tom Brady a year ago (as if that makes it better?) and a fan photoshopped it for him.

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was shown the picture Monday in the Patriots’ locker room, and said he’d be fine with McCain doing it, because it would probably give the Patriots a free 15-yard trip down the field.

“We’ll see Thursday night if the guy does that,” Gronkowski said. “I think that would be a penalty if that guy does that. If he wants to do that and give us 15 yards, that’s fine.”

Anything to help the team win, even if an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty results in a headache for the Patriots quarterback.
