Game 1 of the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets at Kauffman Stadium was an instant classic. Game 2? Not so much.

The Royals cruised past the Mets 7-1 to take a two-games-to-none lead in the best-of-seven Fall Classic.

New York actually drew first blood on a Lucas Duda RBI single in the top of the fourth. However, the Royals struck back quickly thanks to singles by Alcides Escobar, Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas in the bottom of the fifth.

Kansas City tacked on three more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Royals pitcher Johnny Cueto was the other story of the game. He allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out three and walking four in a complete-game effort.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday night at Citi Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
