The NHL wants to have a word with Gabriel Landeskog.

The Colorado Avalanche forward was ejected Thursday night for an illegal hit to the head of Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand. On Friday, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Landeskog will have a hearing with potential supplemental discipline on the way.

It’s unclear at this point whether Landeskog’s hearing is a phone hearing or in person. If the hearing is in person, Landeskog will be looking at a suspension of at least five games.

Here’s video of the hit.

Landeskog was given a match penalty for the blindsided hit. That might factor into whatever supplemental decision is made. So, too, might the fact that Landeskog has never been suspended in his NHL career. He has been fined, however, for this punch of Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu.

Marchand got a minor penalty for roughing for his punch of Landeskog.
