FOXBORO, Mass. — Bill Belichick always has done his best to ignore the noise.
But things got a little too loud for his liking Monday night, so the New England Patriots coach decided to take matters into his own hands.
A brutal inadvertent whistle by referee Gene Steratore’s crew had just cost the Patriots a potential touchdown, and the fans at Gillette Stadium were letting the zebras have it.
New England still was on offense, though, and Tom Brady and Co. were having a tough time communicating amid the cacophony.
Enter Belichick.
We’re not lip-reading experts, but it appears Belichick didn’t ask nicely.
The Gillette Stadium crowd finally settled down, but the Patriots’ offense still couldn’t capitalize, as Stephen Gostkowski missed a 54-yard field-goal attempt to end the drive.
