TheĀ moment Peyton Manning broke Brett Favre’s NFL passing record Sunday, Favre was hanging out in a tree in the middle of the woods. It is deer season, after all, and the former Green Bay Packers great is an avid hunter.

But that didn’t stop him from passing on congratulations from one surefireĀ Hall of Famer to another.

ManningĀ passing Favre was the lone bright spot onĀ an otherwise disastrous afternoonĀ for the Denver Broncos quarterback, who hadĀ nearly as many interceptions (four) as completions (five) and was relegated to the bench early in the third quarter in a 29-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Backup Brock Osweiler finished off the game for the Broncos and could be inĀ line to start Sunday, as Manning reportedly is dealing with a partially torn plantar fascia in his left foot. Osweiler has yet to start a game in three-plus NFL seasons.
