Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton let Packers fans know that Bank of America Stadium is “Panther Country” only.

Prior to Sunday’s 37-29 win over the Green Bay Packers, Newton saw a Packers sign hanging from the stadium walls. Taking matters into his own hands, he ripped the sign down and carried it away with him.

According to The Fayetteville Observer, local man Mike Dobs, owner of the sign, reported the “theft” to the authorities.

“I was just shocked, shocked,” said Dobs, who told the Observer he spent $500 on the sign.

Newton didn’t shy away from commenting on the incident.

“There’s a Green Bay banner in Bank of America Stadium, that don’t match,” Newton said in his postgame press conference. “I feel it’s my due diligence to protect this house.

“We played in Green Bay last year and I didn’t see no ‘Panther Country’ signs in their stadium.”

Even though the Panthers’ stadium policy says “No banners or flags expressing support of visiting teams may be affixed to or displayed on any surface,” according to NFL.com, the team still plans on making it up to Dobs.

Opposing fans take note, if you travel to Carolina and bring a sign supporting the opposition, Newton will tear it down and he’ll have no remorse in doing so.
