BOSTON — Maybe it was the warm weather. Or maybe Boston Celtics fans just were in a cheery mood after their Thanksgiving festivities.

Whatever the reason, the folks at TD Garden decided to bust out a tradition not usually reserved for indoor arenas Friday night.

With the Celtics well on their way to a 33-point win over the Washington Wizards, the Garden faithful suddenly did the wave midway through the fourth quarter.

We’re not huge advocates of this ritual, especially when fans insist on doing it every night at Fenway Park, even if the Boston Red Sox are losing.

But the wave created quite the energetic atmosphere in the Garden, so much so that Celtics forward Amir Johnson got in on the action.

Well played, Celtics fans.
