Fantasy Football Week 12 Mailbag: Answering Start/Sit, Waiver Wire Questions

Bye weeks are over, which means fantasy football owners should have full rosters at their disposal for Week 12 lineups, unless of course they have injured players on the bench.

Naturally, a lot of the questions submitted through Facebook and Twitter for this week’s mailbag were of the start/sit variety. We answered four of them below.

Question from Matthew via Facebook: Should I start James White this week?
I would not start White in Week 12. He has a tough matchup against a Denver Broncos defense that ranks seventh against the run and first against the pass in terms of yards allowed per game.

White also is touchdown-dependent because he’s not likely to rack up a ton of yards on the ground or through the air. LeGarrette Blount still is the No. 1 back in New England and should continue to receive the majority of the carries. White is not worth starting, particularly in non-PPR leagues.

Question from Darren via Facebook: Pick up Tony Romo and drop Matthew Stafford?
The best bet is to keep Stafford and play him this week against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that gave up five touchdown passes to Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jameis Winston on Sunday and has allowed 20 passing touchdowns on the season, which is tied for the third-most in the NFL.

Romo has a very difficult matchup against an elite Carolina Panthers defense that leads the league in interceptions and ranks tied for second in sacks. They likely will put a lot of pressure on Romo in the pocket, which could force him into mistakes. He threw for just 227 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions against an inferior Miami Dolphins defense on Sunday.

Question from Mac via Twitter: Which defense do you start: KC against Buffalo or Pittsburgh against Seattle?
Definitely go with the Chiefs against the Bills. Kansas City has given up 20 or fewer points in six straight games and is averaging 8.6 points against in its last three games. The Chiefs also have intercepted 10 passes and recovered two fumbles during their four-game win streak. KC is the clear choice here.

Question from Steve via Facebook: Is Eddie Lacy the worst high fantasy draft pick ever or what?
No, far from it. In fact, many owners took Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson as a top five pick this season, and he’s been arguably the most disappointing player from a fantasy perspective.

Lacy played well on Sunday with his first 100-yard game of the season and a 4.5 yards-per-carry average against a very good Minnesota Vikings defense. He scored six touchdowns in the final six games of last season, so there’s some evidence to suggest he’s capable of finishing the season on a high note.
