Chris Barker wasn’t off the New England Patriots’ roster for long.

The offensive lineman is re-signing to the Patriots’ practice squad Wednesday, a source told NESN.com. Barker signed to the Patriots’ 53-man roster off the practice squad Saturday and was cut Tuesday. He cleared waivers Wednesday, meaning he could return to the Patriots’ practice squad.

Barker played four snaps as the Patriots’ sixth offensive lineman in the team’s 27-26 win over the New York Giants on Sunday, all in goal-line situations at right tackle.

Patriots injured offensive linemen Sebastian Vollmer (concussion), Marcus Cannon (toe) and Tre’ Jackson (knee) returned to practice Wednesday, making Barker expendable on the active roster.

The Patriots signed defensive backs Chris Greenwood and Brock Vereen and tight end Joseph Fauria to their practice squad and cut safeties Ross Ventrone and Dewey McDonald on Wednesday.

The Patriots released offensive tackle Blaine Clausell from their practice squad to make room for Barker, according to Clausell’s agent Brett Tessler.

Here is their current practice squad:

CB Chris Greenwood
DB Brock Vereen
OL Keavon Milton
OL Torrian Wilson
TE Asante Cleveland
