Final, Patriots 27-10: Jimmy Garoppolo took a knee to finish the job.

It wasn’t always pretty and New England suffered a few injuries (Dion Lewis, Sebastian Vollmer, Duron Harmon), but the Patriots still took care of business against an inferior opponent.

LeGarrette Blount led the way with 129 rushing yards on 29 carries. Brandon LaFell caught five passes for 102 yards to pace the Patriots’ aerial attack. Tom Brady completed 26 of 39 passes for 299 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

The Patriots improved to 8-0 with the victory. They’ll travel to the Meadowlands next Sunday for a date with the New York Giants.

Fourth quarter, 0:25, Patriots 27-10: Garbage time TD alert.

Kirk Cousins found tight end Jordan Reed from 3 yards out for a late touchdown. The TD strike capped a 12-play, 83-yard drive for the Redskins that lasted three minutes, 26 seconds.

Fourth quarter, 0:46, Patriots 27-3: The injuries have been piling up for the Patriots in this one.

New England already lost running back Dion Lewis (knee) and offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer. Now, safety Duron Harmon is heading for the sideline after suffering an apparent leg injury.

Fortunately for the Patriots, Harmon walked off under his own power after spending a few moments on the ground.

Fourth quarter, 3:00, Patriots 27-3: Brandon LaFell has been a force. The Patriots wide receiver caught two passes for 34 yards on the drive, giving him five catches for 102 yards on the afternoon.

It’s the fifth 100-yard game of LaFell’s career (third with the Patriots).

The Patriots couldn’t add to their point total, though. Ryan Allen punted to the 17-yard line, where the Redskins will take over trailing by 24 points.

Fourth quarter, 9:15, Patriots 27-3: The Redskins continued to shoot themselves in the foot.

A 10-yard holding penalty negated a 9-yard pickup and forced the Redskins into a 3rd-and-11 situation. Washington picked up a first down on the following play, but another dropped pass hurt the ‘Skins.

The Redskins ended up punting after another fruitless drive netted them just 14 yards. The Patriots will take over at their own 17-yard line.

Fourth quarter, 11:28, Patriots 27-3: No Vollmer, no Lewis, no problem for the high-powered Patriots offense. Blount helped push the Patriots down the field, then Brady capped it off with an 18-yard touchdown pass to running back Brandon Bolden.

Brady is now 23 of 33 for 256 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Third quarter, 4:10, Patriots 20-3: The Patriots forced a punt after a 3-yard catch and two incompletions.

Lewis has a knee injury and will not return to the game.

Third quarter, 5:06, Patriots 20-3: The Patriots might need to go the rest of the game without their starting running back. Dion Lewis stayed down with what looked like a knee or ankle injury. He went straight to the locker room, walking under his own power. Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia gave Lewis a hug as he departed with trainers.

The Patriots were forced to punt.

Third quarter, 6:05, Patriots 20-3: Drops are killing the Redskins. Jamison Crowder had a costly one that fell into Rob Ninkovich’s arms. He couldn’t hold on for the interception.

The Patriots forced a punt. They have the ball on their own 27-yard line.

Third quarter, 7:32, Patriots 20-3: The Patriots put Bryan Stork at right tackle, bumping Cameron Fleming to left tackle with Sebastian Vollmer questionable to return with a head injury. Shaq Mason stayed at left guard with David Andrews at center and Josh Kline at right guard.

Fleming was on the practice squad to start the season. Now he’s at left tackle. Unbelievable.

The Patriots drove down to the goal line, but LeGarrette Blount couldn’t punch it in. Stephen Gostkowski kicked a 21-yard field goal. Brady is now 17 of 25 for 200 yards with a touchdown and interception. The Patriots have 99 rushing yards on 23 carries. They’ve let up just 133 yards to the Redskins.

Third quarter, 12:10, Patriots 17-3: The Patriots chose a good time for their second takeaway. Alan Branch forced a fumble after stopping running back Matt Jones for a 1-yard loss. Defensive end Rob Ninkovich recovered. The Patriots have the ball at their own 43-yard line.

End half, Patriots 17-3: Bryan Stork was in at left tackle for the kneel down. The first half is over.

Second quarter, 0:13, Patriots 17-3: After an extremely long 16-play, 75-yard, nearly eight-minute drive, the Redskins are on the board with a field goal.

Patriots offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer is questionable to return with a head injury. If he can’t play, it looks like tight end Michael Williams will be inserted at right tackle with Cameron Fleming moving over to the right side. The Patriots carried just six offensive lineman, including two tackles, into this week’s game.

Second quarter, 7:56, Patriots 17-0: The Patriots drove down the field on the back of LeGarrette Blount but couldn’t convert on third and goal from the 11-yard line. Stephen Gostkowski knocked through a 27-yard field goal, and it’s a three-score game.

Blount now has 58 yards on 12 carries. Brady is 15 of 22 for 166 yards with a touchdown and interception.

Second quarter, 12:59, Patriots 14-0: The Patriots have the Redskins panicking early. They went for it on fourth and 11, and Logan Ryan broke up a pass meant for Pierre Garcon. The Patriots have the ball on their own 36-yard line after the turnover on downs.

First quarter, 1:07, Patriots 14-0: Tom Brady just threw his second interception of the season. He also made the touchdown-saving tackle after a 44-yard return by linebacker Keenan Robinson.

First quarter, 3:27, Patriots 14-0: Redskins receivers are having a difficult time catching the ball today. All three of Kirk Cousins’ passing attempts have hit the hands of Redskins, and none of them have been hauled in.

The Redskins have just 4 yards on the afternoon so far.

First quarter, 4:30, Patriots 14-0: The Patriots were able to take advantage of Ryan’s pick.

LeGarrette Blount scored on a 5-yard run. The Patriots brought in Stork to play center, which bumped Andrews to right guard, Kline to left guard and Mason to fullback on the touchdown.

Brady is now 11 of 14 for 93 yards and a touchdown. Blount has five carries for 18 yards with the score.

First quarter, 6:29, Patriots 7-0: What a crazy game. On the first play of the Redskins’ drive, Logan Ryan picked off QB Kirk Cousins. The pass bounced off Pierre Garcon’s hands and right to Logan Ryan, who plucked it out of the air.

First quarter, 6:38, Patriots 7-0: The Patriots were back driving down the field, then Edelman fumbled after an 11-yard catch.

The Redskins have the ball on their own 26-yard line.

First quarter, 9:01, Patriots 7-0: The Patriots are on the board quickly.

Wide receiver Julian Edelman caught three passes for 20 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown on the game’s opening drive.

Tom Brady was 6 of 8 for 46 yards with the touchdown pass. Dion Lewis carried the ball three times for 25 yards, showing off impressive footwork. He also dropped a sure-touchdown pass from Brady. He might have lost the ball in the sun.

Edelman now has seven touchdowns on the season. That’s a new career high.

The Patriots kicked onside and recovered the football. They’re back on offense.

First quarter, 15:00: Rob Ninkovich, Jerod Mayo, Matthew Slater and Devin McCourty are out for the coin toss for the Patriots.

The Redskins won the coin toss and chose to defer. The Patriots will receive to open the game.

12:38 p.m.: The Patriots have seven safeties active today — Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung, Duron Harmon, Jordan Richards, Tavon Wilson, Nate Ebner and Dewey McDonald — plus linebacker/safety Brandon King. Seems a bit excessive.

12:26 p.m.: Bill Belichick said on 98.5 that Bryan Stork is available to play any spot on the Patriots’ offensive line. He exclusively played center last season, but he also played guard in college. He played tight end and tackle in high school.

Here’s the Patriots’ starting OL in warmups:
LT Sebastian Vollmer
LG Shaq Mason
C David Andrews
RG Josh Kline
RT Sebastian Vollmer

Stork is rotating into warmups at LG, C and RG.

11:32 a.m.: Collins officially is inactive with an illness. Here are the Patriots deactivations:

Guard Tre’ Jackson
DE Jabaal Sheard
WR Keshawn Martin
OT Marcus Cannon
LB Jamie Collins
RB James White
DE Trey Flowers

Linebackers Jonathan Freeny, Jerod Mayo and Jonathan Bostic likely will take over bigger roles with Collins out.

Shaq Mason and Bryan Stork are active. It will be interesting to see who starts on the Patriots’ offensive line.

10:30 a.m. ET: The New England Patriots added some much needed depth to their offensive line Saturday, when they activated Bryan Stork, but question marks still remain along the unit heading into Sunday’s matchup with the Washington Redskins.

The Patriots have just five healthy offensive linemen heading into the Week 9 matchup. Guard Tre’ Jackson (knee) and offensive tackle Marcus Cannon (toe) were ruled out Friday, and guard Shaq Mason is questionable to play with his own knee injury.

That leaves just Stork, center David Andrews, guard Josh Kline, left tackle Sebastian Vollmer and right tackle Cameron Fleming. Whether Kline plays on the left or right side of the line will depend on whether Stork or Mason starts. Mason only has played left guard this season, while Stork seems like a better fit on the right side. Kline has played both left and right guard this season. The Patriots also could elect to start Stork at center. He’s been practicing at center and guard this week.

It might not matter who starts on the offensive line this week, however, because the 7-0 Patriots are 14.5-point favorites for good reason over the 3-4 Redskins.

Patriots linebacker Jamie Collins was added to the injury report with an illness Saturday. We’ll keep an eye on the field to see if he shows up before the inactives are released at 11:30 a.m.

Check out why the Patriots’ secondary is flourishing despite a patchwork cornerback group.
