Fourth quarter, 1:47, Giants 26-24: The Giants have retaken the lead, but did they leave too much time on the clock for Brady?
We’ll find out.
Fourth quarter, 6:01, Patriots 24-23: The Patriots drain over five minutes from the clock, but they come away with no points as Brady was picked off by Trumaine McBride in the red zone on second down.
The Patriots got down the field on a 54-yard heave by Brady to LaFell. The Giants have the ball on their own 3-yard line.
Fourth quarter, 11:05, Patriots 24-23: Manning threw to Beckham three times for three incompletions. Credit Butler for great coverage on all three passing attempts.
Fourth quarter, 11:33, Patriots 24-23: The Giants just got Gronk’d.
The Patriots big tight end just took a 76-yard catch to the house for a touchdown. Giants safety Craig Dahl got his hands on Gronkowski, but he’s a tough man to bring down. The play was reminiscent of Beckham’s touchdown on the Giants’ opening drive.
Fourth quarter, 12:58, Giants 23-17: Rob Ninkovich just saved the Patriots three points. He knocked them out of field goal position with a 13-yard sack. The Patriots have the ball on their own 14-yard line.
Fourth quarter, 14:51, Giants 23-17: Yikes. Brady got strip sacked, and the Giants have the ball on the Patriots’ 31-yard line.
The fumble was forced by Giants linebacker Jasper Brinkley and recovered by defensive tackle Markus Kuhn.
Third quarter, 0:49, Giants 23-17: The Patriots trail by a touchdown as we’re nearing the start of the fourth quarter.
Malcolm Butler made a pass breakup on a target to Beckham on third and 7 to force a field goal.
Third quarter, 4:46, Giants 20-17: The Patriots are back in this one.
After a magnificent 82-yard punt return by Danny Amendola, the Patriots scored on a 1-yard run by LeGarrette Blount.
Patriots safety Duron Harmon accidentally tripped Amendola before the shifty wideout could take the return to the house.
Third quarter, 7:56, Giants 20-10: The Patriots are forcing their defense to step up again. Brady and the offense went three-and-out after Bolden started the drive with a 3-yard loss.
The Giants have the ball on their own 44-yard line after the 52-yard punt and 17-yard return by Dwayne Harris.
Third quarter, 9:32, Giants 20-10: The Giants received two favors from the refs on generous defensive pass interference penalties on Patrick Chung and Malcolm Butler to extend their drive. They capped it off with a field goal to go ahead by 1o points.
Third quarter, 15:00, Giants 17-10: Julian Edelman didn’t emerge from the locker room after the half and will not return.
End half, Giants 17-10: The Patriots have a legitimate chance to lose this game.
They drove down the field in just 56 seconds and capped the series off with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Dwayne Harris over Patriots cornerback Justin Coleman, who tripped and fell on his face.
Logan Ryan and Jon Bostic also gave up big plays on that drive for the Patriots.
The Giants will get the ball to start the second half. The Patriots’ defense will need to step up.
Second quarter, 1:09, 10-10: The Patriots only managed one first down, and now the Giants have the ball on their own 26-yard line with just over a minute to go.
Second quarter, 3:42, 10-10: We’re all tied up again here in New Jersey.
Patriots cornerback Justin Coleman made a nice pass breakup on third down on an Eli Manning pass intended for Myles White. Giants kicker Josh Brown knocked through a 37-yard field goal to make the score 10-10.
Second quarter, 6:59, Patriots 10-7: The Patriots went three and out after Rob Gronkowski was called for a costly pass interference penalty. He ran into the Giants’ safety five yards down field.
Brady is now just 11 of 16 for 99 yards with the touchdown.
The Giants have the ball on their own 46-yard line.
Second quarter, 8:52, Patriots 10-7: Chandler Jones came up with a clutch strip sack as the Giants had the ball in the red zone to get the ball back in Patriots possession. Cornerback Justin Coleman recovered the fumble after giving up a big catch to Myles White on the previous play.
Jones has a league-leading 10.5 sacks this season. The Patriots, still without Edelman, have the ball on their own 16-yard line.
Second quarter, 12:54, Patriots 10-7: The Patriots had to settle for a 31-yard field goal after the offense stalled in the red zone.
Brady is now 11 of 15 for 99 yards with a touchdown. Blount has 34 yards on nine carries.
Edelman left for the locker room and is questionable to return with a foot injury.
End first quarter, 7-7: Now wideout Julian Edelman is on the Patriots’ sideline. He’s getting his lower left leg looked at.
First quarter, 1:19, 7-7: Slater is probable to return with a shoulder injury.
First quarter, 3:22, 7-7: The Patriots forced their own three and out and have the ball back on their own 30-yard line.
Slater looks like he could be fine. His helmet is back in his hand and he’s standing on the sideline.
First quarter, 4:52, 7-7: The Patriots went three and out with two incompletions and a 4-yard catch by Danny Amendola.
Matthew Slater hurt his right arm or shoulder on the punt. He’s on the bench with trainers.
First quarter, 5:49, 7-7: We’re all tied up.
Cornerback Malcolm Butler was torched by Odell Beckham Jr. for an 87-yard touchdown. Safety Devin McCourty whiffed on the tackle.
First quarter, 6:40, Patriots 7-0: The Patriots drained 8:20 off the clock on their opening drive and topped it all off by scoring seven points. Brady hit tight end Scott Chandler for a 1-yard touchdown.
Chandler did his best Scott Hall impression after the score.
Brady was 5 of 6 for 39 yards with the score. He also picked up 10 yards on the ground to move the chains on third down.
LeGarrette Blount ran for 29 yards on seven carries. James White and Brandon Bolden shared third-down back duties.
First quarter 15:00: The Patriots lost the coin toss and will receive after the Giants chose to defer.
3:48 p.m.: Former Rutgers defensive lineman Eric LeGrand also is at MetLife Stadium. Four of his former teammates play for the Patriots.
The Patriots’ starting offensive line, as expected, will be left tackle Cameron Fleming, left guard Shaq Mason, center David Andrews, right guard Josh Kline and right tackle Bryan Stork based on pregame warmups.
3:30 p.m.: Bill Belichick’s favorite musician is at MetLife Stadium to watch Patriots-Giants.
3 p.m.: Defensive end Jabaal Sheard is active after missing three games with an ankle injury.
Wide receiver Keshawn Martin, offensive linemen Marcus Cannon, Tre’ Jackson and Sebastian Vollmer, linebacker Jamie Collins, defensive end Trey Flowers and safety Tavon Wilson were declared inactive.
Giants starting left guard Justin Pugh was a surprise inactive with an illness.
2 p.m.: Jimmy Garoppolo is leading Julian Edelman through his pregame warmups, which is typical for road games.
Safety Tavon Wilson and rookie defensive end Trey Flowers are going through a strenuous workout with trainer Harold Nash. That could be a sign they will be inactive this afternoon. The Patriots already have declared five players out, so there will be only two new names on the inactive list.
Patriots linebacker Jamie Collins (illness), offensive linemen Marcus Cannon (toe), Tre’ Jackson (knee) and Sebastian Vollmer (concussion) and wide receiver Keshawn Martin (hamstring) won’t play against the Giants.
If Wilson and Flowers are out, that means Jabaal Sheard will be active for the first time since injuring his ankle in Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts.
1:20 p.m. ET: New England Patriots 2014 fourth-round pick James White has a chance to break out Sunday against the New York Giants.
Dion Lewis tore his ACL last Sunday, so the Patriots must decide between White and Brandon Bolden to fill their always-important third-down pass-catching role. White likely will get the first crack at the role, since Bolden’s biggest value to the team comes as a core four special teamer.
White has just 16 career carries for 53 yards with 12 catches for 75 yards. He’s shown off dependable hands and blocking ability, though he’s not as explosive or versatile as Lewis.
This is why the Patriots drafted White last season, however, and we’ll see if he can impress with the opportunity.
