Josh Kline has started all eight games this season on the New England Patriots’ banged-up offensive line. The 25-year-old was rewarded for his hard work Tuesday.
Kline signed a two-year contract extension with the Patriots that runs through the 2017 season, a league source told ESPN.com’s Field Yates. The starting guard was slated to become a restricted free agent after this season.
Kline, who’s listed at 6-foot-3 and 300 pounds, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2013. The Kent State product has appeared in 27 games with New England over the last three seasons.
The base value of Kline’s extension is $3.3 million, according to Yates. The maximum value of the deal reportedly is $4.9 million.
Here are the details of Kline’s new contract, per Yates:
Signing bonus: $750,000
2016 base salary: $950,000
2016 roster bonus: $200,000 (46-man per game)
2016 incentives: $400,000 for 55 percent of snaps or $800,000 for 75 percent
2017 base salary: $1.4 million
2017 roster bonus: $200,000 (46-man per game)
2017 incentives: $400,000 for 55 percent of snaps or $800,000 for 75 percent
