New England Patriots fans are spending another week on MRI watch.
Patriots receiver Danny Amendola was knocked out of Monday night’s 20-13 win over the Buffalo Bills with a knee injury, and he will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to check the ailment, NFL Media’s Albert Breer reported.
The Patriots are “cautiously optimistic” Amendola’s knee injury is minor, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday, and their hope is the MRI will reveal “nothing major,” FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo reported.
Amendola suffered the injury late in the third quarter on a 41-yard reception. He returned to the field for a punt return but stayed on the sideline for the remainder of the game in uniform.
MRIs have come with bad news recently for the Patriots, who can’t afford to lose Amendola. Running back Dion Lewis tore his ACL two weeks ago, and wide receiver Julian Edelman broke his foot in Week 10.
The Patriots were left with just Brandon LaFell and Chris Harper as the team’s only receivers after Amendola and Aaron Dobson (ankle) departed the game with injuries. Keshawn Martin was declared inactive for the fifth consecutive game with a hamstring injury.
