Former colleagues will reunite Wednesday north of the border.
The Boston Bruins will head to Edmonton, where they will face former general manager Peter Chiarelli’s Oilers in their first of three consecutive road games.
Boston enjoyed its fair share of success under Chiarelli from 2006 to 2015, including winning the 2011 Stanley Cup and a 2013 Final appearance. However, Chiarelli now is the president of hockey operations and general manager in Edmonton.
Bruins coach Claude Julien addressed their relationship before Wednesday’s reunion.
“I think it’s pretty simple,” Julien told the Boston Globe’s Amalie Benjamin on Tuesday. “I’m with the Boston Bruins and my goal is to win this game tomorrow. I’m sure he’s thinking the same thing from his end there. But there’s no animosity, not between Peter, I think, and myself, or the Bruins.
“I think it’s just, it was one of those things that happened and you move on. Basically I haven’t looked at it any further than that. Coming in here, I’m really focused on having a good road trip here — not just this game, but all three of them. That’s where my focus has been.”
