Clemson punter Andy Teasdall has a history when it comes to fake punts, and it’s not a good one.

Teasdall infamously tried a fake punt that went horribly wrong during the top-ranked Tigers’ win over North Carolina in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game. And head coach Dabo Swinney was furious with Teasdall after the play.

Clemson tried another fake punt Thursday against Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, with a spot in the national championship game on the line, and this one ended in a 31-yard pass from Teasdall to 315-pound defensive tackle Christian Wilkins.

That’s more like it. Clemson followed it up with a touchdown to take an early lead in its eventual 37-17 win.
