CM Punk Will Be Featured In ‘UFC 2’ Video Game Even Before First Fight

CM Punk could step into a virtual octagon even before stepping into a real octagon.

EA Sports confirmed the former WWE superstar, whose real name is Phil Brooks, will be included on the roster of playable fighters in its upcoming “UFC 2” video game, according to GameRant.com.

CM Punk left WWE in January 2014 and signed with the UFC in December 2014, with an eye toward fighting in 2015. The former WWE champion has suffered setbacks in his MMA training, though, and there’s currently no date set for his UFC debut, although some have speculated it could come in the spring or summer of 2016.

EA Sports’ “UFC 2” video game is scheduled to hit store shelves in spring 2016.

It’ll be interesting to see how EA Sports handles CM Punk’s character in the game, which will feature Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor on its cover. CM Punk’s attire and MMA fighting style are mysteries at this point.

In any event, EA Sports added some additional star power to its “UFC 2” roster with the inclusion of CM Punk. Even if his MMA career ultimately pales in comparison to his WWE career, there’s a chance his inclusion in the game could generate additional crossover appeal for the time being.
