DeMarcus Cousins Trade Rumors: Celtics Among Teams Reportedly Showing Interest

The rumors linking the Boston Celtics and DeMarcus Cousins won’t go away.

SheridanHoops.com writer Michael Scotto reported Tuesday that the Celtics are one of three teams with significant trade interest in the Sacramento Kings center. The Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls have also expressed interest in acquiring Cousins, according to the report.

The Kings aren’t necessarily shopping Cousins, but they’re reportedly listening to offers. At the moment, however, there are no plans to move the center, sources told Scotto.

The Celtics’ interest in Cousins has been well documented. The Celtics certainly have the pieces to make a trade, even for someone like Cousins, who’s among the best at his position in the NBA. Boston president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has amassed a stockpile of draft picks, and the Celtics’ young talent could be attractive to a team like the Kings, who are in the midst of an elongated rebuild.

Despite controversy and uncertainty swirling around the Kings, Cousins is having another fine season. He’s averaging what would be a career-high 25.2 points per game while pulling down 10.6 rebound per night.

The Heat could have backup plans if Cousins isn’t moved. Chris Sheridan reported Tuesday the Heat and Houston Rockets could end up making a blockbuster trade that would send Dwight Howard to Miami and Hassan Whiteside to Houston.
