Diego Valeri isn’t wasting time in his effort bring the Portland Timbers into the promised land.

Valeri scored the fastest goal in MLS Cup history on Sunday, giving the Portland Timbers a 1-0 lead over the Columbus Crew after just 27 seconds.

The Timbers forward punished Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark for trying to control a back-pass, instead of clearing it with his first touch.

Rodney Wallace then scored for Portland five minutes later.

Portland won MLS Cup 2015 2-1.

Apparently, speed kills in the big game.
