Fantasy Football Mailbag: Waiver Wire, Start/Sit Advice For Week 13

Fantasy football is winding down, but there’s still plenty to play for entering the final weeks.

The playoffs begin in a lot of fantasy leagues in Week 13, which makes lineup decisions much more difficult. We answered some of them in this week’s fantasy mailbag. Check it out below.

David on Facebook: Scott Chandler a good pickup for two weeks?
Chandler should be owned in all fantasy leagues. He had five catches for 58 yards and one touchdown in Sunday night’s overtime loss to the Broncos, but more importantly for fantasy owners, he played a season-high 54 snaps, and his 11 targets were six more than his previous season-high. Chandler also has a good matchup in Week 13 against a struggling Philadelphia Eagles pass defense.

If you own Gronk and your fantasy playoffs are starting this week, don’t hesitate to pick up Chandler.

Mike on Twitter: Philip Rivers or Drew Brees this week?
Both quarterbacks have tough matchups, but I’d go with Rivers against the Denver Broncos.

Brees is playing the undefeated Carolina Panthers, whose defense leads the NFL in interceptions and ranks third in sacks. They totally dominated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo on Thanksgiving, including two interceptions returned for touchdowns, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they shut down Brees as well.

@TheCrowesNest on Twitter: One for flex spot — Mark Ingram, Tyler Eifert or Martavis Bryant?
The safest play is Eifert, who leads the league with 12 touchdown receptions. However, he left Sunday’s game with a “stinger,” so be sure to monitor his progress. If Eifert is ruled out or it doesn’t sound like he will feature much in the Cincinnati Bengals offense, Bryant is the next best option.

The Steelers wideout has a favorable matchup against an Indianapolis Colts defense ranked 27th in passing yards allowed per game and 18th in yards allowed per pass attempt. Bryant has averaged 84 yards with a total of five touchdowns in his six games played after serving a four-game suspension to begin the campaign.

Dan on Facebook: Do I start Mike Evans or Amari Cooper?
This is a close one, but a small advantage goes to Cooper, who has nine or more targets in four of the last five games, including a seven-reception, 115-yard performance against a good Tennessee Titans pass defense in Week 12.

Cooper has a slightly more favorable Week 13 matchup, too. Evans is going up against an Atlanta Falcons pass defense that has given up the third-fewest touchdowns and the eighth-fewest yards per pass attempt. Evans also hasn’t reached the 65-yard mark in each of the last two games.

Both players should be started, but if you have to choose one, go with Cooper.
