Stop us if you’re surprised: Steph Curry put on a show Wednesday.

The Golden State Warriors point guard dropped 40 points on the road against the Charlotte Hornets on a night when his father, Dell, was being honored by the home team. Dell has been the color commentator for Hornets broadcasts since 2009 and is the Hornets all-time leading scorer after playing 10 seasons for the franchise.

Before the game, father and son sat down for an interview, and Steph did what he does best: take over.

Steph made sure to find his way back on to the court at halftime for his dad’s ceremony, though, in which Dell was presented the key to “Buzz City.”

Steph kindly obliged his dad’s wishes from the interview where he jokingly was asked “not to spoil my night” — after scoring just 12 first-half points, Curry dropped 28 points in the third quarter alone on 10 of 11 shooting and made all five of his shots from 3-point range.

Steph set an NBA record in the process, too, becoming the fastest player to make 100 3-pointers in a season. The previous high was set by Ray Allen, who needed 30 games to reach the plateau. Curry got there in the third quarter of his 20th game in 2015-16.

The Warriors improved to 20-0 with a 116-99 victory.
