The NBA suspended Memphis Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes two games without pay Monday for an altercation with New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher earlier this year, Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski reported, citing league sources.

The NBA later confirmed the suspension, which it said came after “its own investigation into the matter.” The league found Barnes engaged in a physical altercation with Fisher and threatened him.

Barnes reportedly drove 90 miles to confront Fisher, his former teammate with the Los Angeles Lakers, in October when he learned Fisher was with Barnes’ estranged wife, Gloria Govan, at the home in which the two previously both lived.

Fisher reportedly had been dating Govan and was in town visiting both her and Fisher’s children when Barnes arrived and allegedly attacked and threatened the now-Knicks coach.

Barnes is expected to begin his suspension without an appeal Tuesday night when the Grizzlies play the Miami Heat, according to Wojnarowski.

Govan is a former reality star on VH1’s “Basketball Wives.”
