The New England Patriots run the east for the seventh consecutive season.

It was a hats and T-shirts night in New England on Monday, and the Patriots weren’t even playing. The Patriots clinched their seventh straight AFC East title when the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins.

NFL director of AFC communications Jon Zimmer explained Sunday on Twitter why the Patriots were able to clinch.

This is the Patriots 13th AFC East championship in 15 seasons. The 11-2 Patriots still are battling for playoff positioning, though they’re currently the No. 1 seed in the AFC over the Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals after beating the Houston Texans on Sunday night.

The Patriots finish their 2015 schedule against the Tennessee Titans, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.
