The New England Patriots will be without some important pieces Sunday against the New York Jets.

Wide receivers Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola and defensive backs Patrick Chung and Devin McCourty were ruled out for the teams’ AFC East clash at MetLife Stadium.

Edelman hasn’t played since the Patriots’ Nov. 15 win over the New York Giants with a foot injury. He recently returned to practice, although his participation remains limited.

Amendola played in the Patriots’ last three games after sitting Nov. 29 against the Denver Broncos, but he had to leave New England’s 33-16 win over the Tennessee Titans last Sunday with a knee injury.

That leaves just Brandon LaFell, Keshawn Martin and Chris Harper, who was promoted from the practice squad after New England reportedly cut Leonard Hankerson, at wide receiver for the Patriots this Sunday.

McCourty will miss his second game in a row after suffering a knee injury against the Houston Texans earlier in December. Chung, meanwhile, also will sit with a foot injury, which he sustained last Sunday against the Titans. That leaves Duron Harmon, Tavon Wilson, Jordan Richards and Nate Ebner at safety for New England against New York.

Linebacker Dont’a Hightower, who left the game against Tennessee with a knee injury, was not listed as inactive. Linebacker Jonathan Freeny was ruled out Friday.
