The Patriots are helping those in need throughout New England this winter.

The Kraft family and the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation have teamed up with The Empowerment Plan, a Detroit nonprofit organization, to provide homeless people with a coat that turns into a sleeping bag. The Kraft family is purchasing the coats and passing them out at shelters throughout the area.

“We heard about The Empowerment Plan … and we just loved the story about this young woman, who as a classroom project created a product that served a need, a real need in her community,” Robyn Glaser, vice president of The Kraft Group, told Guerin Austin in a segment that aired Tuesday on “NESN Sports Today.”
