Could Dwight Howard be on the move again?

Dwight Howard is “extremely unhappy in Houston playing second fiddle to alpha dog James Harden,” according to Sheridan Hoops’ Chris Sheridan, citing multiple league sources. With Howard unhappy and holding a player option for next season, Sheridan reports that the Rockets will look to trade Howard before February’s deadline.

The 30-year-old center at one point was one of the premier players in the league, but multiple injuries and changes of scenery have led to a relative decline in performance over the past several seasons.

Howard only has attempted the sixth-most shots among Rockets players this season. He previously has been frustrated with his number of touches while playing for the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers.

Sheridan believes the Miami Heat are the most likely destination for Howard in a deal that likely would involve Hassan Whiteside and Justise Winslow moving to Houston.

Howard is averaging 13 points, his lowest total since his rookie season in 2004-05, and 12 rebounds.
