The outpouring of support for Denna Laing from the hockey world continued Wednesday with one of the biggest (literally and figuratively) figures in the sport paying her a visit.

Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara visited Laing in the hospital, where she continues her recovery from a spinal injury suffered in Outdoor Women’s Classic on Dec. 31 at Gillette Stadium, a day before the NHL Winter Classic between the Bruins and Montreal Canadiens.

Chara brought along gifts, too, with one of his jerseys and a pair of Bruins heels for Laing.

As Laing pointed out, the heels are a perfect gift and should go quite well with an already impressive collection.

Chara’s visit is just the latest in a growing line of thoughtful gestures and tributes to Lang, who still has no feeling in her legs and limited movement in her arms. The Bruins and Canadiens played again Tuesday (featuring a stirring video tribute), and the jerseys they wore in that game will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to help Laing’s recovery and rehabilitation.
