The hockey world came together Friday in support of Denna Laing, the women’s professional hockey player who suffered a serious spinal injury during last Thursday’s Outdoor Women’s Classic at Gillette Stadium.

The National Women’s Hockey League release that explained the extent of Laing’s injury included a statement of support from Boston Bruins president Cam Neely, and several other NHL teams quickly followed suit.

Laing, a Marblehead, Mass., native who was in her first season with the NWHL’s Boston Pride, also received an outpouring of well-wishes from women’s college hockey teams around the country. The messages carried the hashtag #14strong, a nod to the uniform number Laing wore during her time at Princeton.

Laing’s friends and family have created a fund for those looking to donate to the 24-year-old’s cause. Click here for more information.
