John Scott had never played a 3-on-3 shift until he stepped onto the ice for Sunday night’s 2016 NHL All-Star Game in Nashville.

It didn’t take him long to score, either. Scott netted Team Pacific’s first goal 47 seconds into the period to tie the score 1-1.

The best part of the sequence was Scott’s amazing celebration.

Scott won the All-Star fan vote despite entering the event with five career goals in 285 games. He normally plays a fourth-line enforcer role and never shies away from a fight.

Scott was traded from the Arizona Coyotes to the Montreal Canadiens earlier in the month, and the Habs sent him to their AHL affiliate soon after. The NHL reviewed the situation and determined Scott was allowed to participate for the Pacific Division team despite playing in the AHL.

It was the right decision, one that made the entire weekend a lot more fun. He even did a mock fight with Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane.

Scott scored another goal later in the game as Team Pacific won 9-6 to advance to the championship round.
