The Cleveland Cavaliers won Friday night, but LeBron James didn’t exactly have a great time.
James made headlines for the wrong reasons in the third quarter of Cleveland’s game against the Detroit Pistons when he embarrassingly botched a breakaway dunk.
Before that gaffe, however, the Cavs star got into it with one of his teammates. James started barking at big man Tristan Thompson at the end of the first half, and the exchange got so heated that point guard Kyrie Irving decided to intervene.
A look at the play that prompted James’ outburst shows he likely was mad about Thompson’s defensive positioning on Pistons guard Reggie Jackson, although James’ own help defense left something to be desired.
The Cavs still are winning games and own the No. 1 seed in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, but it appears there are plenty of signs of dissent in Cleveland, especially after head coach David Blatt was fired last Friday and replaced by assistant Tyronn Lue.
