FOXBORO, Mass. — The NFL plans to look deeper into Chandler Jones’ trip to the hospital Sunday morning.
“We are aware of the matter and will review it,” the NFL told NESN.com in a statement.
Jones was “rushed” to Norwood Hospital, according to police dispatch records obtained by the Boston Herald, after he showed up at the Foxboro Police Department with a medical emergency at 7:42 a.m. Sunday.
“Chandler Jones was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and released that day,” the Patriots said in a statement. “He reported to work on time Monday morning and has participated in all meetings and practices since then.”
Jones practiced Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Heavy.com released the dispatch audio from Jones’ trip to the hospital, in which he was described as a “confused party.” Officers said in the dispatch that Jones “was definitely involved with Class D (Delta) before this happened, just so they know.”
Class-D substances in Massachusetts “includes marijuana, possession of which is not a crime in most cases. Other class D substances are hashish, and other substances with THC and marijuana derivatives or concentrates like dabs, wax, shatter, or BHO (butane hash oil),” according to WFXT-TV.
Players can be admitted into the NFL’s substance-abuse program without testing positive for drugs and instead due to “Behavior (including but not limited to an arrest or conduct related to an alleged misuse of Substances of Abuse occurring up to two (2) football seasons prior to the Player’s applicable scouting combine) which, in the judgment of the Medical Director, exhibits physical, behavioral, or psychological signs or symptoms of misuse of Substances of Abuse.”
