When the New England Patriots went to Denver to take on the Broncos earlier this season, they had to deal with some nasty weather.
Nearly two months later, the early forecast looks a little more pleasant.
The Patriots went to Denver in Week 12 for a Sunday night matchup in a game that featured cold temperatures and snow. On Sunday in the AFC Championship Game, the forecast is calling for partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the high 40s. According to Weather.com, there’s just a 20 percent chance of precipitation and an afternoon high of 49 degrees.
The Broncos advanced to the AFC Championship with a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. They did so while dealing with some wind, but the wind doesn’t figure to be a factor next Sunday, as the forecast calls for a 10 mph breeze at most.
It should go without saying that it’s still very early in the week and the forecast certainly is subject to change. Someone who’s probably not paying too much attention to the weather is Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who blasted meteorologists back in 2014.
“When you walk out on the field, that’s really when you know what it is,” Belichick said in October of 2014. “The rest of it really is just a lot of hot air. We played down at Miami two years ago, and it was a zero percent chance of rain. Zero — and it rained. I’m just telling you. If I did my job the way they do theirs, I’d be here about a week.
“Look, I’m not saying I could do it better than them, I’m just saying they’re wrong a lot. They’re wrong a lot. We all make mistakes. I’m not being critical of them. I don’t think you can go based on that.”
