FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots filled their active roster by signing linebacker Kevin Snyder off the practice squad, according to a source. The Providence Journal’s Mark Daniels first reported the news.
The Rutgers product signed to the Patriots’ practice squad last month. Snyder was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Lions in May. He was on the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad earlier this season.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder ran a 4.58-second 40-yard dash at his pro day in March with a 7.09-second 3-cone drill, 4.31-second short shuttle, 35-inch vertical leap and 9-foot, 9-inch broad jump.
The Patriots opened a roster spot when they placed Jerod Mayo on injured reserve with a shoulder ailment earlier this week. The Patriots now have an open spot on their practice squad.
Snyder is the fifth Rutgers player on the Patriots’ active roster, joining defensive backs Logan Ryan, Devin McCourty and Duron Harmon and linebacker Jonathan Freeny.
The Patriots have Freeny, Dont’a Hightower, Jamie Collins, Darius Fleming, Jonathan Bostic and Dekoda Watson on their linebacker depth chart.
