Surprise, surprise: Wide receiver J.J. Worton, who was arrested over the weekend, wasn’t among the seven New England Patriots practice squad players signed to future/reserve contracts Monday.

The Patriots did lock up running back Joey Iosefa, wide receiver DeAndre Carter, offensive linemen Chris Barker and Keavon Milton, cornerback Rashaan Melvin and safeties Brock Vereen and Cedric Thompson, however, according to the NFL transaction wire. All seven players can participate in the Patriots’ offseason workout program this spring.

The Patriots signed linebacker James Vaughters to a futures contract Thursday.

Running back Montee Ball, who ended the season on the Patriots’ practice squad, didn’t sign to a future/reserve deal.

Running backs Jonas Gray and Dion Lewis are previous Patriots futures signings.
