Pete Rose isn’t getting anywhere near Cooperstown, but he’ll still be in a Hall of Fame somewhere.
The Cincinnati Reds announced Tuesday they will induct Rose into the Reds Hall of Fame during the weekend of June 24 to June 26. Rose is a Cincinnati native and spent 19 of his 24 major league seasons with the Reds.
“Inducting Pete into the Reds Hall of Fame will be a defining moment in the 147-year history of this storied franchise,” Reds CEO Bob Castellini said in a statement. “He is one of the greatest players to ever wear a Reds uniform and it will be an unforgettable experience watching him being honored as such.”
The three-time World Series champion, 17-time All-Star and all-time hits leader has been banned from baseball since 1989, when it was discovered he bet on baseball as a manager for the Reds. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred denied Rose’s latest bid for reinstatement in December, which more than likely was Rose’s last chance.
