Sick of Deflategate? Too bad.
As if New England fans haven’t heard enough about the air pressure in footballs in the year since the Patriots were discovered to have used underinflated footballs in their AFC Championship Game win over the Indianapolis Colts, it sounds like more PSI information could be dropped very soon.
The NFL has used a random testing procedure for air pressure this season, periodically removing footballs at halftime for testing and then testing the replacement footballs after the game. The information collected hasn’t been made public, but a source with knowledge of the situation told ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio that the NFL might release a summary of the data between this Sunday’s conference title games and Super Bowl 50.
Of course, there’s still a chance the league won’t even release the data. After all, why would the NFL reveal the information unless it helps the league’s Deflategate argument and disproves the Patriots’ argument that the drop in air pressure was related to the Ideal Gas Law?
Nevertheless, we’re still talking about football air pressure one year later. Ugh.
