Rob Gronkowski and Stephen Gostkowski were recognized for their 2015 work Friday with one of the highest honors in pro football.
Both Gronkowski and Gostkowski were named to The Associated Press’ All-Pro first team. Jamie Collins earned second-team honors.
Gronkowski, one of only two unanimous selections in 2014, is now a three-time selection for first team at tight end. The 26-year-old had another fine season, hauling in 72 catches for 1,176 yards and 11 touchdowns. In addition to his work in the passing game, Gronkowski remains one of the best blocking tight ends in the NFL.
Gostkowski’s selection is his second to the AP first team. The Patriots kicker was one of he most accurate in the NFL, converting 33 of 36 field goal attempts, going 17-for-17 on kicks between 20 and 39 yards. While some kickers struggled with the NFL’s new longer extra point kick, Gostkowski nailed all 52 PAT kicks he attempted.
Collins was a second-team selection despite only playing in 12 games. The versatile linebacker was in on 51 tackles, recorded 5.5 sacks and had an interception and a fumble recovery in 2015.
