FOXBORO, Mass. — It appears Rob Gronkowski has joined his quarterback in the fight against soda.

Gronkowski is excited to watch this week’s NFL playoff games as the New England Patriots rest on their bye week, but the tight end won’t be drinking any soda.

“I’ve always been a fan of football, always watched the NFL,” Gronkowski said. “It’s great to always sit back whenever I can this year, sit back and enjoy the games. You know, pop a little sports drink, not no pop or soda, lay back, watch the games. It’s always cool to see how the games go down and just enjoy them.”

The Patriots will play the AFC’s highest remaining seed in the divisional round of the playoffs at Gillette Stadium on Jan. 16 at 4:35 p.m. ET. The No. 6 Pittsburgh Steelers play at the No. 3 Cincinnati Bengals, while the No. 4 Houston Texans take on the No. 5 Kansas City Chiefs. The Patriots can’t play the Steelers in their opening round of the playoffs.
