Ronda Rousey isn’t expected to be part of the UFC 200 card, which promises to be one of the most epic in mixed-martial arts history.
It appears Rousey’s movie career is to blame. Filming of the “Road House” film remake has been delayed, which created some conflicts with the year’s biggest UFC event.
“The filming of the movie got pushed back,” UFC president Dana White recently told Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports. “She could do both, but the question is, should she do both? She could do both, but why should she? The filming is in a timeframe where she’d finish before 200, but it would be cutting it too close.”
A UFC 200 card without Rousey is disappointing and might take some of the anticipation away from the event, but it doesn’t make sense for her to fight Holm without having the proper amount of training time.
A rematch with Holm would be the most important fight of Rousey’s career, and another loss could significantly decrease her popularity and ability to headline future events.
Holm already has proven she’s a difficult matchup for Rousey with her boxing and leg kick skills, which played a key part in her shocking upset of Rousey at UFC 193 in November. She’s the type of opponent that requires plenty of training and preparation time to beat.
