Seattle rejoiced Wednesday when it was announced that longtime Mariners center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. had been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Griffey, who will be enshrined in Cooperstown alongside catcher Mike Piazza, spent 13 seasons with the Mariners, during which he emerged as one of Major League Baseball’s best players. The Mariners never won a World Series during Griffey’s tenure, but he undoubtedly left his mark on the city of Seattle.

One glance at Seattle’s famous Space Needle following Wednesday’s news proves such.

Hang that No. 24 with pride, Seattle. Junior, who almost became the first ever unanimous Hall of Fame selection, truly was a legend on the diamond.

Nice touch having Bone raise the flag, too.
