Harris Interactive asked Americans to vote for the greatest NFL players of all time, and New England Patriots fans will be happy to hear that Tom Brady cracked the top five.

In fact, the Patriots quarterback came in second in the poll, trailing only former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana. Also of note, Brady was voted higher than Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning.

However, the poll also asked 2,368 fans to name two of the greatest sports stars of all time, which brought about a bit of a contradiction. Fans’ top five athletes of all time in order were Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Muhammad Ali, Serena Williams and Manning. Montana was just outside of the top five at sixth, and Brady was ranked ninth.

Babe Ruth (baseball), Michael Jordan (basketball), Tiger Woods (golf), Williams (tennis) and Pele (soccer) were voted the greatest athletes of all time in their respective sports. Boston sports fans will be happy to know that former Red Sox star Ted Williams cracked the top five in baseball.

The poll also asked fans to select each sport that they follow, and football came in first with 50 percent.
