BOSTON — Anaheim Ducks winger Chris Stewart has five inches and close to 50 pounds on Torey Krug, but that didn’t stop the diminutive Bruins defenseman from taking him on in the first period of Tuesday night’s game.

After a late hit by Anaheim’s David Perron sent Kevan Miller flying in front of the Boston net, Krug and Stewart began shoving one another in the post-whistle scrum that followed. A few moments later, the two dropped the gloves and started swinging.

Stewart handled his much smaller opponent with relative ease, but Krug, who’s listed at 5-foot-9, 186 pounds, received a roar from the TD Garden crowd for his refusal to back down.

It was just the third fight of Krug’s NHL career and his first since Feb. 7, 2015, according to HockeyFights.com. Stewart, meanwhile, is a veteran of 48 regular-season NHL fights, including six this season.

Perron also was whistled for roughing on the play, giving the Bruins their first power play of the night.
