BOSTON — The UFC is a huge deal in The Hub, and that was evident at Saturday’s weigh-in for UFC Fight Night Boston.

A total of 26 fighters took part in the weigh-in, with the lower level of the Wang Theatre packed with rabid mixed-martial arts fans. The impressive attendance and raucous atmosphere was further proof Boston has become a true UFC city. That’s not really a surprise, given the city’s long, rich history with boxing and other combat sports.

The co-main event fighters drew the biggest reaction from fans. Eddie Alvarez received one of the loudest cheers of the night. He’ll square off against No. 1 contender and former champion Anthony Pettis in a lightweight showdown.

Dominick Cruz will take on reigning champion TJ Dillashaw in the bantamweight title fight. The majority of the fans supported Cruz, while Dillashaw received quite a few boos. The two fighters engaged in an intense staredown, but no physical contact was made.

The time for talk is over. These fighters will step into the octagon Sunday night at TD Garden. The main card begins at 10 p.m. ET, with the preliminry rounds starting at 6 p.m.
