The Boston Bruins made a change to their blue line ahead of Tuesday’s matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets, activating defenseman Adam McQuaid from injured reserve and assigning Colin Miller to the American Hockey League.

The team announced McQuaid will be available to play against the Blue Jackets after Bruins coach Claude Julien called him a game-time decision when meeting with reporters Tuesday morning. Julien also said the 29-year-old blueliner suffered a “minor, minor, minor setback” in his recovery Monday.

McQuaid has missed the Bruins’ last 18 games since sustaining an upper body injury during a Jan. 5 loss to the Washington Capitals. He’s appeared in 38 contests for Boston this season, tallying one goal and five assists.

Miller, meanwhile, recently sat out four consecutive games as a healthy scratch before returning to the lineup in Sunday’s 6-5 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. The rookie D-man has three goals and 12 assists in 39 games for the Bruins, and although he briefly was assigned to Providence ahead of the NHL Winter Classic, he has yet to play a game in the AHL this season.
